Art Deco Vase  (SOLD)

 

Interesting white crackle ceramic round container with landscape like glaze design on lid.

 

Earthy glaze on this nicely shaped porcelain vase. Another of my favorites. I haven't been able to ID the mark - Nash?

 

Beautifully shaped porcelain vase with striated blue glaze. Interesting gift inscription on the bottom. Google search didn't turn up much to determine the occasion.

 

I like the glazing on this solid mug. Probably just a hobby potter but would make a handsome toothbrush holder.

This is my favorite little piece that I'm keeping for myself. Heavy blue lava like glaze. Very earthy and organic.

Was with all Native American and Indian work, anything signed immediately implies that it was made usually after 1920 when the tourist industry seriously started for such objects. It was as a consequence of collectors wanting to buy certain artists work that the artists, as well as those middle parties trading in such wares, realized that signing pieces made them more identifiable.  The Hopi Indian Reservation was the largest resource for collectors, covering a very large area with some very good potters. I suspect that C. Maho is almost certainly a relation of the more  well known Garrett Maho who is a contemporary pottery who has won various awards for his work.

E&C Challinor Antique White Bowl

Beautiful crazing on this antique white ribbed bowl. I looked up the mark and it appears to be  c.1891. There is a small crack on the rim about 1" long. It's not raised but smooth to the touch. It does not detract from the beautiful bowl.
