Northeast Native American Crooked Knife

This is primitive tool handmade by Northeast Native American Woodland tribe. Handcarved into the wood of the handle is a crown on one side and likely a signature, "MAP X" on the other side.  The steel knife blade is attached to the handle with wire and nails.  These tools were used for various purposes, one likely being to cut splints for basket making.

Merritt Island Pottery Bowl

Beautiful Florida pottery by Mel Casper, Merritt Island Pottery

Measures approx. 4" diameter and 2" height.

 I've found and a few nice Merritt Island Pottery pieces over the past few years.  They are distinct in their glazing with a very clear signature. There is a lot written about Mel Casper and Merritt Island Pottery. Here is an interesting article from Orlando Sentinal from 1986.  He seemed like quite a character. Mel died in 2001 so his pieces are becoming more rare as collectors scoop them up.

Pre-Prohibition Sour Mash Whisky & Rye Liquor Bottles

I'm on a roll finding these pre-prohibition Boston liquor bottles. These two matching bottles appear made by the same company.  One company is name Thompson & Pinkam, the other Thompson & Howe, but both addressed 62 Broad Street, Boston, MA.  I can't seem to find much info about the company.  Very cool old labels in great shape.

Wood Card File Cabinet - 4 Drawer

Nice patina on this vintage wood card filing cabinet. 2 x 2 drawers.  Brass label plates and the word "Globe" written across the top.  These are heavy.  Would be great storage for an artist/crafter.  I wonder what life this has had.  Did it come from a library? A business?  Very pre-internet.

Charming Sock Monkey Couple

 

Meet Julio and Regina Sock Monkey, lovingly created in the 1940s and wearing their Sunday best. Julio sports a matching lavender suit with turquoise piping and a wide brimmed wool hat with banding.  Regina wears matching plaid skirt and boots, a red wool vest and hat. Completing her outfit is a beaded necklace and earrings (although she has lost one earring along the way). They are very devoted to each other and must remain together.

Carved Wood Lion Medallion

Interesting carved wood lion figure medallion. My guess is it came off a furniture piece perhaps from mid-late 1800s? Measures about 2" round and has hook on the back for hanging. Interesting piece for the cat lover.

Kit-Kat Club Gin Art Deco Liquor Bottle

Rare 1920s (?) gin liquor bottle. Clear glass and art deco triangle shape with ridges. Full label in great shape and original twist cap.Manufactured by Julius Marcus laboratory. I wasn't able to find any info about this gin or company. If anyone has any info, please let me know!

1876 Hand Lettered Retirement Placard

A special piece. A retirement plaque handlettered with black ink on gold leaf.  It appears to be on the back of a piece of wood molding (from the National Provincial Bank of England?) I'm curious how this piece made its way to New England. Perhaps Mr. Atkinson migrated after his retirement?  Who knows.

Antique gooseneck lamp, probably from turn of the century? Brown cast iron base with brown painted aluminum shade that swivels around. Can be mounted to wall or used as a desk lamp. Appears to have been rewired in it's lifetime. The shade has a few dings that could probably be hammered out.

Industrial Exhaust Fan

 

Call me crazy, but I purchased this industrial exhaust fan for its sculptural beauty and rusty patina. I'm not sure what it's made from. New ones are stainless steel, but not sure if this one is because it wouldn't rust, right?  Anyhow, I thought it would make a cool sculpture for someone with a large space or could be an interested garden sculpture. The top where it connects to the round thing is severed as you can see in last photo. I'm not sure if it is suppose to be or not.

Box of Fishing Lures

When I first opened up this cigar box, I gasped with what I found inside. Many beautiful, colorful fishing lures. I don't fish and know nothing about lures but just had to buy these.  I believe a few have age. I had a friend look these up one-by-one for me and they range from $5 - $20 each. Selling the full lot of about 20.
